Director of Children's Ministry

Tifanni Hughes

My husband Danan and I have been here at ALBC since 1997. We are blessed with five beautiful children: Jessicah, Joey, Taurin, Savvy, and Talyn, and a granddaughter, Daryn. I have been serving the Lord in Children’s Ministry in a variety of capacities since I arrived at ALBC. Although my education background is in Business Management, God has given me a burning passion to serve Him through caring for and spiritually nurturing His children. Two years ago, the Lord placed me in my current position. He also shared with me His vision for Children’s Ministry here at ALBC (Colossians 2:6-7).

Our goal is to honor the Lord through partnering with families to reach and teach children to become established in the faith and built up as followers of Christ, as illustrated daily in their lives. I am thankful and humbled to be a part of this vision.

Katie Ward

Most importantly, I am a follower of Jesus Christ!  I am the blessed daughter of Bill & Karen Ward and older sister to Amy (21), Billy (19), Esther (18), and Andy (16).  I absolutely love my family, and I love spending time with them serving the Lord, shopping, working, playing, and of course, talking! I was homeschooled while growing up in Nebraska, Colorado, and Missouri, and I graduated from MCC-Longview in 2009 with an Associate's Degree in Business. I began volunteering in children's ministry when I was 12, and I've worked & volunteered in various capacities (including office management) prior to coming on staff with ALBC in 2010.  It is a wonderful privilege to serve the Lord along "with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart" (2 Timothy 2:22).

I am passionate about family discipleship, and passing on a multi-generational vision for glorifying God & enjoying Him forever.  I desire to encourage families as their children learn to live wholeheartedly for the Lord during their youth.

I praise the Lord that He uses ordinary people and allows me to serve Him in full-time ministry with the children and families at ALBC. God blessed me with a godly husband, John, in April of 1999.  We have 4 grown children between us and 2 precious grandchildren. We have been members at ALBC since 2001. I was blessed to have been introduced to the Lord Jesus and accept Him as my Savior and Lord when I was a teenager.  The Lord then gave me the privilege to attend a Christian University and get a degree in Religious Education.  He has allowed me to serve Him with children in many different capacities; Children’s Home, Bus Ministry, taught 3rd Grade in Christian Schools, worked in School and Church offices, to name a few.  He has now given me the ‘desire of my heart;’ that is, to serve Him full time in Children’s Ministry. The Lord has given me a tremendous burden to see children come to know Him as Savior and Lord and to live for Him at a young age.  It is my desire to partner with parents to help them train up their children for the Lord.

My husband, Nathan, and I have been married since 2000.  We have three daughters: spunky and energetic Kaitlyn (7), tender-hearted Sophia (5), and our dress-up diva, Madison (3).  When I graduated from Illinois in 2001 with my degree in Music Education, I was shocked to find that the new school district I had just moved to was on a hiring freeze.  Thus, I “settled” for being a Preschool teacher… and have loved working with Preschoolers and their parents ever since!

Most people look at babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, and see them as sticky-fingered, snotty-nosed kids who just won’t sit still.  I totally see that, too!  But, I also see that that same kiddo is someone who was made in God’s image, with the potential to become the spiritual champion that God intends him/her to be!  What a privilege it is to be a part of this ever-so-tiny, yet incredibly critical window of opportunity to partner with parents as we begin laying Biblical foundations so that young children hear about God, experience Him, and someday may enter into a personal relationship with the One who created them!

Treehouse Preschool Director

Lisa Swenson

I have been married to my husband Ben for 20 years.  We have two beautiful children, Brittany (13) and Gabe (10).  I have been serving the Lord in education for 7 years.  The Lord also blessed us this year with Lulu, a special teenage exchange student daughter from China.    I taught preschool at Plaza Heights Christian Academy where my children attend; then the Lord opened the Treehouse Preschool and moved me here.  It has been such a joy to serve the Lord in not only teaching children in academics, but also about His love for them.  Then the Lord ask me once again to move out of my comfort zone and work on the management side of education.  It has been such a joy to serve the preschool families in this capacity.  I love serving the Lord through the preschoolers and their families.
