The Andersons work in the Flemish (Dutch) speaking part of Belgium along with Dennis and Laura Leavell as a team ministry. As a general rule the weather is not good and depression is high. The leading cause of death is suicide. Less than 1/2 of 1% claim to be Christian. Even the Catholic church, which is the State religion has only a handful of people during the Mass.
The Andersons work with the Brugge Baptist Church. They have around 30 people on a regular basis - some Sundays more some less. This past Easter, people were standing in the hall, which is a great problem.
The Anderson's ultimate goal is to be faithful to the Lords calling. In that, they hope to raise up a few Belgians to take the role of leadership to nearby towns to begin new works. At present, they are working on getting the Catholic mentality of only the "priests" doing the ministry out of their thinking. This is also difficult in the area of tithing, as the average Belgian pays 45% income tax (self employed 65%) and these taxes help support the catholic and protestant churches.
The planning for the summer Dutch family camp is in full swing. They are already full and there are several unsaved people coming. This year they have a guest speaker as well as another couple to help with whatever help is needed. They will also be showing the movie "Fireproof". Their hope is that the members will see the impact of what a good marriage is all about and want to have friends and family see it as well. At the end of camp they plan to announce a large showing of the movie here in their area in the fall. P
lans are in the work to have a Christian musician from the States come and give a free concert and also have a free showing of Fireproof. If they can get a good deal on a place to rent, they can have multiple concerts and showings during the weekend. During this time they will have plenty of their "plan of salvation DVDs" available to everyone for free.
Please pray for these ministries. "We are very grateful for the awesome people and churches that faithfully pray for and support our ministry and family," said the Andersons.
