Blake & Meagan Fortner - Serving in Ethiopia

Blake & Meagan Fortner are missionaries to the country of Ethiopia. They felt that the Lord was calling them to the mission field on a missions trip as teenagers. During their junior year of college they were both able to go on the same trip to the country of Ethiopia. It was during this trip that God saw fit to bring them together as a couple and to give them both a desire to go back to Ethiopia as missionaries.

They graduated from Baptist Bible College (Springfield, MO) in May of 2005 from the Intercultural Studies program and were married in July of that same year. After a two year internship at Abundant Life Baptist Church (Lee's Summit, MO) they began deputation to raise support for the ministry to which God had called them. They have been on the road since September of 2007 during which they also became the proud parents of a beautiful baby boy named Benjamim who is now 10 months old. So far God has supplied 80% of the funds needed to go to Ethiopia!

They are looking to leave for Ethiopia this coming January (2010). They will spend their first two years in the capital city (Addis Ababa) to learn the language and to become accustomed to Ethiopian culture. During their second term they will move to the specific city (Dire Dawa) that they feel God is leading them to. They see God possibly leading them to work with oral learners by taking them from Creation to Christ by means of oral Bible story telling. It is their vision to take the light of Christ to these people so that they can shine His light in the midst of their darkness and see many Ethiopians come to know the Savior.
