Joevest Varghese is the pastor of Spring Valley Baptist Church and the Director of Spring Valley Baptist ministries in Oyoor P.O Kollam, Kerala South India. Spring Valley Baptist Church is a growing congregation in the midst of a Muslim and Hindu community. The church was founded by his father who came to Kansas City in the late sixties and studied at Calvary Bible College. He came to India and started the church from the scratch. When Joevest was in high School, he got saved, and baptised and God called him for His ministry.
Joevest completed his four year Bible college training at Berean Baptist Bible College and Seminary in Bangalore India, where he met my wife Monica, who was his classmate. They prayerfully decided to get married and just ten days before their marriage his dad had a sudden brain fever and he died.
God blessed Joevest and Monica with two children, Joann and Joshua. Joann completed her high school education and Joshua is in high school now. Joevest's mother Annamma also lives with their family. After his father’s death, the Church asked Joevest to take up the leadership, which he gladly accepted.
By the ministry of Spring Valley Baptist Church, the Vargheses could plant another four more Baptist churches among the interior villages. They also started a nursery school for the poor and needy children. They also print and publish Christian booklets and tracts with the help of Stone Croft ministries of Kansas City MO. The main objective of their mission is to plant local churches in the interior villages. At present they have a team of young people working with them. They have seven pastors and four evangelists. At present they are pioneering work in five different interior villages. They also do coastal out reach among the poor fishermen colony. They do personal and door to door evangelism. They conduct open air meetings, seminars and Gospel conventions. They started small group Bible studies in more than 15 places. Every year they conduct Vacation Bible School in their church, and gather children from all religious backgrounds. They also conduct Youth Camps and send dedicated youth for Bible college training.
